Grow Out Contest

AnubiasGet ready, planted tank enthusiasts! The ASW is launching its first-ever aquatic plant grow-out contest at our very next meeting:

Sunday, November 16, 2014
1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
St. John’s-Ravenscourt School

Be prepared for some friendly competition, but don’t worry, it’s going to be fun and easy. The plant we have chosen is the anubias, a common aquarium plant that will grow under almost any conditions.

Plants will be supplied by the ASW for $5 each. They will be selected for uniformity of size and condition, so only the ASW’s plants will be eligible for the contest. Sorry! Each entry will be marked and weighed before going home with its new owner. After that, it’s up to you! High tech, low tech, submerged, emersed… anything goes. Bring back your plant(s) for judging at our March meeting. We’ll weigh each one with our digital scale and tally up the results… Entries with the most growth will win prizes!

October Meeting

Join us at the next meeting for our first “DIY” presentation offered by you – our resourceful club members! Find out how to re-silicone a leaky tank, ways to make that noisy air pump a little quieter, and many more useful tips and tricks. Of course, we’ll also have our monthly HAP and BAP presentations, followed by our regular auction.

See you there!
