January Meeting

The ASW is now on a holiday break. Don’t fret, we’ll be back in January with our first meeting of the year taking place on the third Sunday of the month, as always. That’s Sunday, January 17, 2016.

Our first meeting of 2016 will be a special one—we’ll be handing out the annual awards, complete with prizes! Stay tuned for the year’s winners of Breeder’s Cup, Grower’s Cup and Combined awards, along with achievement plaques for HAP and BAP.

We’ll also be kicking off the next phase of the aquatic plant grow-out contest with a more challenging selection available for sale. Want to try your hand at something a little more demanding? This is your chance! Pit your skills against your fellow club members to see who really has the greenest thumb.

But wait a minute, what about the plants you’ve got from phase 1, you ask? Keep on growing! We’ll be sure to announce when it’s time to bring in your plants for weigh-in.

In the meantime, have a great holiday and we’ll see you soon!

Next Meeting: Shrimp FEVER!

shrimpKing kong, hinomaru, double-s… if any of those terms get your heart racing, you may have a full-blown case of shrimp fever! Don’t worry, aquatic expert Tommy Lam knows the cure. He’s flying in from Toronto to talk to Winnipeg invert-enthusiasts about the fascinating world of shrimp keeping and the tips and tricks you’ll need to treat your decapods right.

Tommy’s lecture is taking place at our next meeting: October 18, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. See you there!
